For more than forty years, I have had the privilege of caring for some of the smallest and strongest patients imaginable—newborns fighting for life in Neonatal Intensive Care Units across the country.
Meet Erma
Erma Cooke, MSN, NNP-BC, has dedicated more than four decades to neonatal nursing and healthcare leadership. Her career has taken her from newborn nurseries and intensive care units to military hospitals in Germany, Texas, and North Carolina, where she provided specialized care to fragile newborns and their families.
Known by many as “The Baby Whisperer,” Erma combines clinical expertise with a deep understanding of the emotional journey families experience when facing uncertainty, grief, and healing.
Her writing reflects the lessons she has learned at the bedside—lessons about resilience, compassion, faith, and the remarkable strength of the human spirit.
